Affordable wedding photography at Southwark Register Office
34 Peckham Road, London, SE5 8QA
Affordable London wedding photography at Southwark Register office that performs ceremonies in a Grade II listed building made from dark yellow-gold London bricks, with painted red window arches is located at 34 Peckham Road, London, SE5 8QA.
It has a cobbled forecourt that can accommodate six cars plus the bridal car that enters a side entrance, within this small area is an avenue of trees that lead up to the front door. The cast-iron railings are listed too; the front door has an ornate window arch above this plus the architectural railings that form the support for a large “Sherlock Holmes style” door lamp gives the photographer scope to work with. The registry office were part of originally built row of substantial houses in the 1790s the area became a voluntary funded Royal Naval School for sons of marine officers that had a meager income. In 1846 the then Alfred house was renamed Camberwell House and parts were converted to a medical facility. In 1955 the building was occupied by Southwark Borough Council and used as offices. We believe the main area has been sold to Camberwell College of Arts for student accommodation and we are not sure how these effect the future of Southwark Registry.
As you walk up the white steps or the slope you’ll find on the left is a waiting room that has the main office enquiry window. From there up a corridor to the well appointed marriage room it has a bow window that leads on to a pretty garden, the light that comes through from here is delicate and shows up the well appointed peach seating that can accommodate 22 guests on a rich wooden floor.
At the back is a secluded mature garden with patio and rose arch adorned with a climbing white rose that can frame a wedding photograph well.
Southwark civic partnerships and marriages ceremonies follow a similar format. Once the Superintendent Registrar has welcomed all present and explained what is about to take place, the couple makes their vows using words similar to the words of declaration and contract spoken during a marriage ceremony.
Two credible witnesses must also be present to join the couple in signing the civil partnership schedule. Southwark is very open towards photography. Our photographer can photograph the whole ceremony plus set up group photography in the room.
