Affordable London wedding photography at Islington register office which is frequently referred to as the Islington registry office is a British term the government office and depository where births, deaths and marriages are officially recorded and of course one can get officially married, without a religious ceremony.
Islington Town Hall is home to the Register Office and Ceremony Rooms. This impressive listed building, with its grand Portland stone facade and sweeping marble staircase, provides an elegant setting for your ceremony, not to mention an impressive backdrop for your wedding photographs.
Located at The Town Hall, Upper Street, London, N1 2UD. The Registry Offices and Assembly Hall are easily accessible by public transport. A 10-minute walk from the Victoria line tube and overland station at Highbury & Islington or Northern line tube at Angel.
The largest ceremonial area is the Council Chamber, seating up to 100 guests plus an additional 60 in the public gallery if required. With its domed ceiling, stained glass windows and panelled walls adds an element of dignified grandeur to the occasion.
Semicircular carved wooden pews sit well on the rich red carpet; the matrimonial table is set in the centre giving a regal gravitas of the service.
Room 99 is for more intimate ceremonies, seating up to 30 guests. This high-ceilinged, airy room has been refurbished in keeping with the elegance of the building and decorated with tasteful simplicity.
The sought after Mayor’s Parlour seats up to 14 guests comfortably has a reminiscent familiarity of the Council Chamber, yet has a peacefulness of its own. Ceremonies in this wedding room are a half hour time slots only.
Adjoining is the 1930s Islington Assembly Hall, this beautifully restored hall is a perfect venue for your special reception.
The sensational hall can accommodate a range of layouts seating up to 170 people cabaret-style or 230 people theatre-style, additional seating for another 200 people in the upper circle is available.
If required the Assembly Hall has an audio/visual system, large screen projection, PA-system, radio microphones.
Islington civic partnerships and marriages ceremonies follow a similar format. Once the Superintendent Registrar has welcomed all present and explained what is about to take place, the couple makes their vows using words similar to the words of declaration and contract spoken during a marriage ceremony.
Two credible witnesses must be present to join the couple in signing the civil partnership schedule. Islington is very open towards photography. Our photographer can photograph the whole ceremony plus set up poses of the couple, witnesses and group photography in the room.
Civil marriages and partnership ceremonies also take place in local approved premises, usually hotels or public buildings where the superintendent registrar has designated that the wedding service can happen. Registry Office Wedding Photographers have knowledge of the various approved reception places.
Handy tip Islington Registry Office asks guests not to throw rice as it attracts birds that can make the steps messy and unsafe.
PS. Back in the 1950s the Assembly Halls played host to variety shows starring actress-singer Diana Dors and George Formby. Today such acts as Carmel, Calvin Richardson, Dr Feelgood to name but a few showcase this venue.
